7 Months Old

Today is Nov 15th and Allie turned 7 months old on the 8th. I'm only a week behind in posting this!

Raising Allie is just getting more and more fun.  It's so amazing to watch all the transformations unfold.  It truly is amazing how quickly they change and develop this first year.  Allie has gone from an infant with only the most basic of needs to a little person with her own particular likes and dislikes and quirks -- seemlingy overnight!  She is still such an easy, happy baby and I'm always so proud to show her off.

When I undress Allie, she "knows the routine" now.  She pulls her own arms out of the sleeves and pokes them out the top of her onesie as I'm removing it.  It's hilarious.  She likes to sleep with her little butt in the air.  She still loves to have her hands in her mouth, although now it's just the index finger she keeps in there.  When she drinks her bottle, she stares at her hands while she folds and unfolds them.  When she makes a fist, she still holds her thumb on the inside instead of the outside.  When she's about to fall asleep in the car, she starts to babble to herself.  The cats are still the thing that can get the biggest laughs out of her.  She loves to be lifted in the air.  She still LOVES to bounce in the jumperoo.

Here's the rest:
  • 25.5 in tall
  • 14 lbs
  • Doesn't fit into clothes well.  If the sleeves/legs are long enough, the clothes swallow her.  If the clothes fit, the legs/sleeves are too short.  She's very long and lean.
  • Eats pureed fruits and veggies -- lunch and dinner
  • Drinks 5-7 oz formula 5 times/day
  • Sleeps 12 hours per night.  Bedtime is usually 7:15pm.
  • Sits up very well.  Sits in high chair and grocery cart and rides the buggy at daycare.  She'll still topple over at times though.
  • Wants to grab every object she sees.  I now have to watch what is within her reach.  She loves to bang objects against something to see if it makes noise; and she prefers things that rattle or make a cool noise.  Every object goes to her mouth first and then gets banged on something to test for "noise value".
  • Can't crawl yet; but can pivot around on her abdomen like a champ.
  • Enjoys time in the exersaucer manipulating all the toys.
  • Starting to hold her own bottle.
  • Drinks water from sippy cup -- rather sloppily.
  • Has stranger anxiety; but warms up quickly and is then very generous with the smiles.
  • Is showing the first signs of separation anxiety (at home; but not when I leave her at daycare thank goodness!).
  • Teething like crazy.  She moans and bites her finger in her sleep lately.  Today I felt the sharp edge of a tooth when I ran my finger along her gums!
  • Likes patty cake -- but only the part where you clap her hands together.  She's not impressed with the "roll em up" or "throw 'em in the pan" parts yet.
  • Likes raspberries blown on her belly.
  • Laughs a lot.  Daycare staff regularly comments on how much she laughs.
