Ok, I am a horrible mother. My child’s first Halloween and I didn’t even take any “real” pictures of her in her costume. All I have are a few taken with my phone while she's sitting on the bathroom counter. And she looked so cute in her costume too! I'm so ashamed. I truly don’t see how other mothers keep everything in line. My house is always a mess, my yard is overgrown, my hair/makeup/nails are almost never presentable, I wear ill-fitting clothes, and many nights I can only manage making a bowl of cereal for dinner. Ugh.
Anyway, here are Allie’s so-called “First Halloween” pictures:
These were taken Friday, Oct 30th right before I took her to daycare. The daycare had encouraged us to bring our children in costume; but when we got there, Allie was the only baby dressed up! No matter though -- she got lots of attention and Ms Aurora even paraded her around to the other classes to show her off. Saturday, we had two Halloween parties to attend – one during the day and one that evening. We were late to the daytime party because Allie was extremely uncooperative when I tried to re-draw the whiskers and nose on her face. Apparently she remembered the experience from the day before. (The little stinker is developing a longer-term memory!) After a few wipe-offs and re-tries, I ended up with a “good-enough” result: uneven whiskers and smudged nose. By the time we made it to the evening party, her nose/whiskers were almost gone and what was left was smudged. So maybe the Friday morning bathroom pictures were as good as I would have gotten anyway! (At least that's what I'm telling myself .)
As for Allie, I think she truly enjoyed the parties. She seemed to really be having fun watching the other kids and getting lots of attention herself. Oh, and she loved playing with her kitty-cat tail!
