Watch what you say...

On par with the "language explosion", Allie has recently started stringing together longer sentences, as well as speaking multiple sentences in a row.  The other day she said, "Bye Olive.  I see you later.  I go bye bye."  My chin about hit the floor.  I hadn't realized she was capable of that (a definite recurring theme with me).  Needless to say, her ability has been expanding at a rapid pace since then.  She amazes me every day.

The best part, however, is that along with this sentence-structuring ability apparently comes the hilarious stage where kids start imitating your phrases and inflection; and start springing them on you when you least expect.

Allie sprung one on me last night as she was running through her laundry list of bedtime stall techniques.  Here's how it went:

Allie:  "I want Milk."
Me:  "No, you already had your milk.  It's time to lay down."
Allie:  "I want water."
Me:  "No, baby."
Allie:  "Don't tell me no, Mommy!"

It was all I could do to not crack up laughing.  I think she knew she was pushing the envelope though, because I didn't respond and she didn't make any more stall attempts after that.

Here are a couple more funny examples of Allie's newfound ability to speak in sentences, also from last night:

1.  Soon after we got home, Allie told me she had to go poo poo.  I sat her on the potty and a couple seconds later she announced excitedly, "here comes the poo poo!"  And sure enough she was right.  (I did crack up at that one!)

2.  While I was getting dinner ready, Allie was playing with her Fisher Price Little People Farm.  At one point she ran into the kitchen to show me this little farmer figure:  Note the orange sack of wheat in his right hand.

She was telling me something unintelligble about this little farmer; but she was very excited about it so I asked her to repeat a few times.  Finally it dawned on me that she was saying, "Floatie on!  Get in water!"  This past weekend she swam in the pool for the first time with floaties on, and she thought the orange sack of wheat was a floatie!
